What is BabyNet?
BabyNet is South Carolina’s interagency early intervention system for infants and toddlers under three years of age with developmental delays, or who have conditions associated with developmental delays.
Does my child need it?
Infants and toddlers from birth to three years may be eligible for BabyNet services if they are developing more slowly in any of the following ways:
- Learning to walk
- Height & weight
- Learning how to think
- Learning to listen & talk
- Getting along with others
- Doing things on their own
How do I get it?
You can complete a referral or ask your provider to complete a referral. All children who meet the eligibility criteria will be served regardless of family income.
What if my child is older than 3?
If the child is between the ages of 3 and 21, you may contact the local school district in which the child lives for a Child Find screening.
Are BabyNet and an “EI” same/different?
EI, or Early Intervention Services help infants and toddlers who have delays in growing, developing and learning. Early Intervention Services may include therapies, assistive aids and devices, speech/hearing/vision services, service coordination and family training. BabyNet is the payor source for EI services.
