Confession: It has been at least 20 years since I carved a Jack-O-Lantern. My children have been begging to carve one this year, and despite all my objections, we did carve a Jack-O-Lantern. This was not my favorite. The smell, the pumpkin gunk, the messy, made my senses freak out. We ended up with a cute Jack-O-Lantern, but I was thankful we only had one to do.
Fast forward to today at the clinic! A fabulous OT shared with me this hack: cut the pumpkin from the bottom. (WHAT?!?!?!) All the gunk is attached on the bottom and it pulls right out. While I wished I had known this on Sunday, it is my hope that I save some moms and dads some stress this Halloween.
You can find the instructions on many different websites. We are using the one from The Weather Channel.
