How Can I Help My Child Listen Better?

We all know there is a big difference between hearing something and actually listening to someone. Have you ever wondered how to help your child listen — and actually pay attention — to what you’re saying?

Here are 3 quick steps to help your whole family listen to each other better:

1.  Turn off all electronics while talking (i.e., TV, phone, iPad, etc.). The less the distractions, the better the listening!

2.  Stand or sit an arm-length away — not too close, but not too far away.

3.  Look at your listener. Your listener also picks up lots of nonverbal cues while you are talking.
